Analyzing Students’ Errors in Solving Trigonometric Problems Using Newman’s Procedure Based on Students’ Cognitive Style

AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa memiliki gaya kognitif field dependent dan Independent dalam menyelesaikan soal trigonometri berdasarkan prosedur Newman. Pendekatan digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis deskriptif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes GEFT (group embedded figure test), trigonometri, wawancara. Subjek ditentukan purposive sampling dipertimbangkan beberapa kriteria, yaitu; (1) berada pada kategori atau , (2) kemampuan komunikasi baik (berdasarkan informasi dari guru pengamatan dilapangan). Teknik analisis tiga tahapan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian pembuktian serta penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa tertinggi kesimpulan berbeda. Berbeda tidak ada melakukan membaca, sedangkan salah satu masih membaca. Penyebab kesalahan-kesalahan tersebut umumnya kebiasaan menuliskan penyelesaian sesuai konteks diminta soal, kurang teliti, memahami situasi masalah, berlatih soal-soal terutama bentuk cerita. AbstractThe purpose of this study was to find out the errors made by students with and independent cognitive styles in solving trigonometry problems based on Newman procedure. This descriptive used a qualitative approach. The collection techniques involved test tests, interviews. participants were determined considered several criteria, namely; categorized into defender or style, demonstrated good communication skills (based information from teacher observations). analysis technique carried three stages, namely reduction, presentation, verification drawing conclusions. results showed that students' highest conclusions for different types styles. In contrast style did not make any reading errors, while one still errors. reasons these general student’s habit, which they write solution problem being asked, conduct process thoroughly, understand situation, do exercises, especially about form story.
